Punta Nizuc Underwater Museum (Snorkeling Location)

Underwater Museums-Punta Nizuc

Punta Nizuc Underwater Museum

Punta Nizuc is a part of the Meso-American Barrier Reef and better known as an amazing snorkeling site filled with both natural and artistic beauty. Located just opposite of Club Med in the hotel zone, this is a wonderful site for snorkeling from the beach, within walking distance to most hotels and doesn’t require a boat to access the area. Easy access isn’t all that makes this site so popular among snorkelers.

Along with the natural marine life, over one-hundred species of tropical fish and countless coral sprouts are twenty-three water sculptures implanted in this location and are now part of the eco-system of the Caribbean. While similar in artistic appeal to the type of sculptures that you will experience at the popular Manchones Underwater Museum, the art features here take on a life of their own and bear no resemblance to any of the features at Manchones. Another advantage of Manchones for snorkelers would be the shallower depth of water creating easier access for picture taking. Overall, this is a great snorkeling spot year around with inviting blue green crystal clear waters that only the Caribbean is capable of providing, and the price is an unbeatable $0.00.
